Introduction

Applications on Facebook are varied in content, but a good deal of them follow similar patterns in terms of functionality. These patterns have matured over time to basically increase the viral actions each visitor is exposed too.

Olympic Torch

One such scenario named the 'Olympic Torch' deals with content being passed from user to user. Functionally this is simple to create; and does a good job in tapping into the social graph of each user. Below are the key points in achieving this type of application:

  • Create an engaging and appealing concept in regards to the content and overall application.
    • Triangle have created in the past a Soccer Wave application where users create and propagate a Mexican wave; the wave is based on each of the English football league clubs. The concept was to see which club could amass the largest wave within a one month period.
  • Identify the end game and reward to the users that have participated.
  • Consider every point where a viral action can be utilised.
