Introduction

Zingo is a social achievement network that sits strongly within scope of social networks such as Facebook and Bebo.

Zingo rewards and promotes the activity of users from within these networks. Zingo adds interest, fun, challenges, and a sense of achievement to social networking, Zingo also - importantly - allows us to reward the user. For application owners and developers Zingo opens up a wide range of benefits depending on how deeply you want to integrate and work with the Zingo Network. Quite simply; the more you put into Zingo the more you will get out.

How Zingo Works For The User

The first great advantage of Zingo is that it is completely transparent to the user. They don't need to do anything to start using Zingo.

Zingo rewards users for being active on applications. The first and most simple way is that Zingo issues Badges for completing certain tasks. A user that visits an application that is part of the Zingo network, and completes a task (as set by the application owner) is issued with an achievement badge. The user does not even have to be a Zingo user at this stage - the badge can still be issued!

For the many Zingo users who are actively looking for badges to complete collections this is clarification of a job well done. Of course this may be the users first interaction with Zingo, in which case they may wish to find out more or they may wish to take no further action the choice is of course theirs.

How Zingo Works For Application Owners

First and foremost Zingo adds interest and drives users to your application. Adding badges to your application means that Zingo users looking to attain that badge will have to install your application and, more importantly, will need to interact with your application in order to attain that badge.

Zingo badges come in four main flavours; easy, medium, hard and Zingo, this means that you may have four badges all within the same application. Badges within a single application are collectively referred to as an Application Collection.

Users are be motivated to:

  • Attain a badge for your application.
  • Complete your Application Collection.
  • Complete any Zingo Collection of which your badges are a part.

How To Add Zingo To Your Application

Zingo Badges can be added easily by using the Application Owners section of the Zingo application.

  • Badges can be set to one of four levels; Easy, Medium, Hard and Zingo.
  • Each application may have one badge for each level.
  • Zingo level badges (the hardest badges to attain) need to be approved by Zingo prior to use.
  • Badges will we grouped into collections by Zingo, but you may also suggest your badge for a collection, or indeed suggest a new collection.

Application owners are required to add some additional code to their applications. By means of a simple call to the Zingo API, and a piece of javascript the application owner informs Zingo and the user simultaneously of the achievement.

The key to success for application owners when setting up badges is to consider and try to achieve a balance between many possibilities that Zingo provides, here are some tips:

  • Get creative, think of interesting and stimulating ways for your users to achieve badges.
  • Make sure that badges are appropriate for the level that you have set for them.
  • Don't make tasks repetitive and or boring.
  • Easy level badges can include simple tasks such as sending out invites.
  • The more interesting and fun it is to achieve your badges the more users we will send your way.
  • Do not break the Zingo Terms and Conditions doing so will get you banned for life from the network!
